Pompeo, widely known for her iconic portrayal of Meredith Grey on the long-running ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy, has become a defining face of 21st-century television. Since the show’s 2005 debut, she’s evolved from playing a rookie intern to playing a powerhouse surgeon. Now, she’s finally honored for her legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In her speech, Ellen Pompeo thanked her kids for their support, saying, “This doesn’t happen overnight. And it doesn’t happen easily. It takes a village. I love you, Stella. I love you, Eli.” She also gave a shoutout to her third child, Sienna, who wasn’t present at the event, and expressed gratitude to Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, for allowing her to balance motherhood and a thriving career. “Shonda allowed me to have a career, and get paid and be a mother.” (via People)

And her daughter Stella stopped watching after a heartbreaking death scene, she further revealed. “When they see that George O’Malley died, they say, ‘I’m done, I just can’t do it anymore,’” Pompeo recalled.
