Netflix has shared The Old Guard 2 trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to the 2020 movie, starring Oscar winner Charlize Theron as she reprises her role as the immortal warrior Andromache of Scythia. The movie will officially make its debut on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
“With Booker still in exile after his betrayal, and Quynh out for revenge after escaping her underwater prison, Andy grapples with her newfound mortality as a mysterious threat emerges that could jeopardize everything she’s worked towards for thousands of years,” reads the official synopsis. “Andy, Nile, Joe, Nicky, and James Copley enlist the help of Tuah, an old friend who may provide the key to unlocking the mystery behind immortal existence.”

What happens in The Old Guard 2 trailer?
The video offers fans a glimpse of Theron’s long-awaited return, as she must face a new enemy in the form of Kill Bill star Uma Thurman. Described as the first ever immortal, Thurman’s mystery character has been watching Andy and her team’s every move for centuries. She is disappointed with their actions, involving saving humanity at the expense of their own kind. It teases some of the movie’s action-packed sequences, including a sword fight between Theron and Thurman.
The Old Guard 2 is directed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay written by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker, based on Rucka and artist Leandro Fernandez’s comic book of the same name. The cast also includes KiKi Layne as Nile, Marwan Kenzari as Joe, Luca Marinelli as Nicky, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Copley, Veronica Ngo as Quynh, and Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker, with new cast member Henry Golding. The sequel is produced by original director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, along with Marc Evans & Denver and Delilah’s Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and A.J. Dix.
